FUN WITH LANGUAGE

Jargonaut

A guide to today's Business Terminology

ADMINISTRIVIA - All the trivial tasks that management does not want to deal with.

BRAIN DUMP - To empty one's brain of all information relating to a particular subject. E.g. “He just got back from the trade show. I'm going to schedule a brain dump, so he can tell us all about it.”

CYBERSLACKING - Wasting company time by browsing the internet or messaging.

DRIP MARKETING - A direct marketing strategy that allows marketers to control the generation of sales leads. It involves sending out several promotional pieces over a period of time, so that the leads arrive at the right rate for the sales force to follow them up.

E-DRESS - A way of describing your electronic addresses. e.g. “My E-dress is ....@....”

FLOODGATERS - Individuals who send inquiring emails and, after receiving a slightly good response, begin flooding you with messages of little or no interest.

POWERPOINTLESS - Fancy graphics and animations in slide presentations that distract the audience instead of clarifying a presentation.

MOTTO FOR LIFE
Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

That's why it's called the present
